The Service
The home provides 24 hour care for the residents. Every resident has a detailed
Care Plan drawn up which is agreed with the resident and his or her relatives,
which sets out the individual’s requirements, social, dietary and medical.
The Care Plan is supervised by each resident’s own personal key-worker
who has the responsibility for ensuring that the resident’s needs are
met satisfactorily.
All meals are provided in addition to regular drinks and snacks when required.
Residents are encouraged to live their lives as if they were in their own
home. If they become ill, residents are cared for in their rooms on a 24 hour
basis.
Doctors and District Nurses regularly visit the home and chiropody and hairdressing
services are available. Once a month an inter-denominational Church service
is held at Taptonholme. Alarm bells are provided in every area of the home
and are constantly monitored by staff on duty. Excursions, entertainment and
social activities are arranged for residents. Staff will always shop for or
accompany those who are able to get to the shops.
Respite care is also offered and trial care periods for those wishing to try
the facilities before making a long term commitment.
Staffing
There is a dedicated team of full time and part time staff supervised day
to day by the manager. The manager is responsible to the Chairman of the Board
of Trustees with whom she has regular meetings. Training in up-to-date methods
of care and in other appropriate health matters is undertaken by staff on
a regular basis.
