Staff

We have a dedicated team of Management, plus care and support staff.

We have a very low turnover of staff which we believe speaks for itself. Our Manager, Jamie-Lee Broadley, holds the QCF Level 5 and has been at the Home over 17 years, having worked her way up from being a junior carer.

Chantelle Patterson is our newly appointed deputy manager at Taptonholme.
Chantelle has worked 20 years in the care industry with 9 years management experience and holds the QCF level 3 which encourages good practice and good working relationships.

The majority of the staff have been employed for over 5 years.  There are also longer serving staff who have been employed between 15-20 years. This encourages good practice and good working relationships to develop.

All staff receive regular training, with appropriate refresher courses, including specific training in relation to caring for persons with Dementia and all care staff have a minimum of QCF level 2 and Senior Care staff QCF level 3.   Staff are encouraged and supported to further their personal development with additional training and qualifications.

Care staff ratios for looking after residents is the responsibility of the manager and a ‘dependency’ assessment is carried out taking into account the needs of each person.

Residential Care

Residents are encouraged to be as independent as they wish and this may include going shopping in Broomhill or other activities, where appropriate being accompanied by a member of staff.

Dementia Care

Increasingly we have found that new residents suffer from some form of dementia or that dementia develops during their residence. As a result in 2010, TAPTONHOLME registered with the CQC to be able to take and care for those suffering from Dementia. Dementia can affect people in many different ways.  Our Manager and staff have all been specially trained to understand the needs of and the special care required by persons with dementia.

They now have many years experience in this field.

Respite Care

Subject to availability of rooms TAPTONHOLME is able to provide Respite Care, whether this is to give the regular carer a break or for some other reason. We often find that this can also be a way to introduce someone to the Home and sometimes those who have come in for Respite Care later become full time residents, although there is no obligation. We do not have a minimum or maximum period of stay but anyone wishing to come for Respite Care would need to be assessed by the Manger beforehand so if you are interested please contact Mrs Jamie-Lee Broadley.

Day Care

In certain circumstances TAPTONHOLME is prepared to take suitable persons for Day Care. Please contact Mrs Jamie-Lee Broadley to discuss.

End Of Life Care

We know that most people would like to remain in their home rather than be moved to hospital.  As TAPTONHOLME is their home we do our best to ensure that they receive the appropriate support and care to remain and be cared for in their own surroundings and by people they are familiar with.  Families and friends can visit at any time and spend time with the person.  Carers will always make them welcome.  The carers understand they will want privacy with their friend/relative but also that they will want to talk about the person.

Health professionals will be involved in ‘end of life’ care and will provide support to the person and the carers.  This will involve the GP and the community nurses.
