Facilities

Facilities

We have two lounges where residents can sit during the day; a large Lounge overlooking the front garden and a smaller rear lounge.

They can also enjoy the privacy of their own room or sit in the Dining room.   A Lift serves all floors.   There is a ramp to the front door which enables those with mobility issues or in wheel chairs to access the garden, including specifically the sensory garden, and there is wheel chair access throughout the inside of the Home.

Activities

We have a timetable of activities which are arranged by a member of staff, the Activities co-ordinator.   The timetable is changed weekly.  We also hold meetings regularly with the residents to ensure they are receiving the activities they want.  Activities include: Chairobics, horticultural activities and bird watching.  Musical activities are very popular and residents like to sing, dance and play instruments.  There is a piano in the Dining room and residents are encouraged to play this.  We have regular visits from “Lost Chord”. Other activities include weekly exercise to music, quizzes, card games, board games and reminiscence.  We also have trips to local parks and places of interest such as the Weston Park Museum and Meadowhall.

We hold a Summer Garden Party each year and a Christmas party.  All friends and family are welcome.

Regulatory

TAPTONHOLME is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (“CQC”).   It receives regular inspections both announced and unannounced from CQC, who publish their report.   A link to the latest Visit Report can be found on the CQC website or by using the link on this site. In the latest report we were ranked as “Good” in all categories.  We also receive regular inspections from Sheffield City Council.

Covid 19

Our Manager and staff have followed Government Guidelines and implemented very strict controls and procedures since the Lockdown in March 2020. The overriding objective has been to keep Residents and staff safe, healthy and Covid free. As a result, none of our staff or any residents have contracted the virus. During the first months of Lockdown we stopped taking new residents to ensure there was no cross infection from new admissions.  More recently we have reorganised the Home to enable any new residents to be self-isolated away from the other residents for 14 days before being allowed to mix and this has enabled us to take new residents subject to very strict prior assessment by the Home Manager. Initially after the start of Lockdown the decision was taken to reduce visiting and allow only visitors to relatives who were on end of life care but as the virus retreated, and risk of infections lessened, visiting was resumed with meetings in the garden and facilities are being provided to continue this during the colder months.  Staff have encouraged and facilitated residents to use phone calls including video calls to keep in touch with loved ones.
